Welcome! I am the Instructional Coach for Frontier Elementary School and Frontier Jr.-Sr. High School. In addition to my six years of coaching, I have twelve years of classroom teaching behind me. I am proud to be in my nineteenth year at Frontier. After graduating from Indiana State University in December 2001, I did a substantial amount of substitute teaching including two maternity leaves in a neighboring district. My first position at Frontier in 2002 was to cover three leaves of absence in third grade. A maternity leave and a boost in numbers four days before the first day of school lead to teaching kindergarten the following year. In 2004, I began a ten year stint of teaching fourth grade. My passion has always been teaching Reading. I also became fascinated by the way technology was starting to enhance education. In 2013, I added the title of Tech Coach to my role as Teacher. Teaching is my life. I love to learn and share it with others of all ages.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending my time with my husband of 19 and a half years on our families' farms. We like to attend events involving cattle, where we have formed friendships with many people whom have become "family" to us. I am also enjoying being an aunt to my niece and two nephews. My "me" time is best spent exercising. Running and participating in group fitness classes are how I keep my mind and body in shape and relieve stress. Over the past nine years, I have competed in numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, trail runs, mud runs, and half-marathons. My hobbies include antique shopping and scrapbooking. If I can stay awake, I also like to read. Most recently, I have read Engagement By Design, Quiet, The Upset (the Tyler Trent book), The Impact Cycle, Empower Our Girls, The Innovator's Mindset, Run Like a Pirate, Copyrighteous, The Perfect Blend, and Tech Like a Pirate. The Collaborative Classroom: Teaching Students How to Work Together Now and for the Rest of Their Lives is the book that I am reading currently.
